Convertible Learning Tower & Desk

Description

CNC router plans for a Montessori learning tower that converts into a desk with a bench. As a tower, the child reaches the kitchen counter and joins in; when needed, it becomes a desk with its seat. One piece of furniture, two uses.

Finished size

• As a tower: 40 × 40 × 90 cm (15.7" × 15.7" × 35.4") (width × depth × height)
• As a desk: 73.2 × 40 × 45 cm (28.8" × 15.7" × 17.7")

Making it

• 10 parts on a single 1220 × 2440 mm (4 × 8 ft) sheet
• Two versions included: for 15 mm and for 18 mm sheet
• Recommended bit: 6 mm or 1/4"
• To assemble: 2 butt hinges, screws, wood glue and sandpaper

What you get

• Each thickness in two joint versions: snug (exact size) and looser (+0.5 mm). We recommend a test cut on a 10 × 10 cm scrap to choose yours
• DXF, SVG, PDF, CDR and AI, with separate parts and the sheet layout (nesting)

FAQ

Does it use hinges? Yes, 2 butt hinges, plus screws and glue.

Can I cut it with a handheld router? The design is made and optimized for a CNC router: the joints and dimensions need the machine's accuracy. With a handheld router we can't guarantee the parts will fit.

Before cutting, check the scale and the real thickness of your sheet.
